Monday

Xuanhao and I went to find Ly and Eileen for dinner on Monday after 9 hours of band. We had Komala’s for dinner because I was dying for their curry, and it was so awesome I’d eat it again anytime soon :> Wanted to cycle overnight after that but Eileen had to be home early, so we only cycled from ECP to the airport runway. The park connector was so dark, deep down I was afraid we might meet a ghost. Xuanhao was also being such a humji, so brave kid Ly led the way We had this crazy idea to chase after planes, so each time we saw a plane that was about to take off, we started paddling like crazy!! It was freaking hilarious because every time Eileen and I got tired, we started chanting “burn curry burn prata burn curry burn prata!” to keep ourselves going

I woke up the next morning because my thighs were aching so badly that I had to crawl down and beg for help. Went back to bed after applying medicated oil only to wake up 2 hours later with the some bloody ache in my thighs all over again Must do proper stretching the next time I wanna chase planes!

Tuesday

My thighs were no longer hurting at night (the power of Chinese medicated oil) so I met Sheena, Gina and Felicia for dinner. Sheena the camwhore abducted my camera and took gazillion photos of herself pretending to eat Felicia’s wallet, talk on the phone etc. I forgive you and love you still because you did the tagging of the photos :}

NSSN is tomorrow and I’m down with a flu, sore throat and headache. Then I’ll be flying to Melbourne on Sat with my entire family and grandparents, and something tells me that the trip’s gna be a disaster. There’s a free&easy day but my mum wants us to go for the optional tour which cost AU$150 per head and includes a trip to the winery and steam engine train. I have 0 interest in the steam engine or winery and would rather spend the AU$150 on myself. We had a huge quarrel over it last night and she said that she’ll never want a holiday with the family again. Works fine for me :>

I’m back from Taiwan where the weather, food and shopping was awesome!! Everything was cheap and good and nothing beats waking up everyday knowing that you’ll be spending a whole 24 hours with your best friends eating and shopping. Not to mention that Elissa’s parents were great hosts! We ate a lot and shopped a lot till our legs hurt, and there were days where we covered more than 5km by shopping. The Taiwan guys can also dress real well, not to mention good-looking! I had the best 4 days of my holidays there, with no CCA or work to worry about, no one to judge you, and friends to share clothes and food with

Day 1

Ly and Graci came to sent us off and we had Polar cafe before boarding!

Taiwan has good and affordable ramen almost everywhere, unlike the maggie-mee tasting ones you find everywhere in Singapore.

We went to the basement of some shopping mall for dinner, and my meal costed only 128NT ($5.60)?! The set included a huge bowl of ramen, a drink, a small side dish and an ice cream. The noodles weren’t that fantastic and I still prefer Ajisen’s but the broth was awesome!! I left half the noodles behind but finished the soup.

The Taiwaneses love dogs so much, they’re allowed in shops and even food courts.

We went over to Ximen ding to shop and spotted these chocolate and nuts-coated apples. I bought chocolates from the same store and they were divine!! Wish I bought more

Brenda as usual bought all the lame and cute stuff haha! We call them her chapalangs.

We took a long walk back to the hotel after that, and I swear I could still continue shopping if the shops were still open Funny how we arrived in the evening but yet could still make time for a proper dinner and shopping!

Check out the plethora of drinks at their convenience store!! All the good stuff, unlike the usual and over-priced crap you get in Singapore. They have convenience stores everywhere, and it’s not just 711. There’s Family Mart, Hi-life and so on.

I bought a packet of Caramel Nuts Rittersport which you can’t find here in Singapore, and it was totally awesome! I only tried it when I returned home, or I would have bought a lot more I’ll be visiting some chocolate factory in Melbourne and they better sell this!!

Day 2

Took the metro to some shopping mall and unlike Singapore, they have chips instead of cards for single trips. You tap tap the chips to enter and then drop it into some slot to exit.

Even our trains look alike! But it’s a lot wider there and people actually follow the line and queue up to enter. When taking escalators, everyone keeps to the right unless you want to walk up the escalator. We didn’t know that and some bitch glared and told Brenda in a nasty tone that we were blocking the way.

The service at their malls is totally awesome. We, being one of their earliest customers, were greeted upon entering. The guy gives a command and then they bow and greet in unison. They even have lift attendants in cute uniforms which, according to Elissa’s Dad, changes once in awhile! There’re 2 attendants to a lift, one does an elaborate bow when the lift door closes, and the other presses the lift buttons for you and tells what you department is on each store upon reaching. Unfortunately, no photography is allowed in the mall or I would have taken a picture with them.

The mall was too pricey for us so we went down to the basement and had gelato.

Eileen ordered her lunch and they gave her this gadget which vibrates when your food is ready!!! Singapore loses out in everything, be it receipts or service.

Brenda and I shared this which totally sucked, so we ditched it and bought the same soup that Eileen and Elissa shared.

Uncle and Auntie got us some Tiramisu sample which had alcohol in it, totally divine!

I like bread a lot so I had to check out the bakery there. This huge chocolate cookie for S$1.50?!

We shared some giant mango mochi for NT40 (S1.70!!!!) which consisted of mango cream, a cake base and a strawberry. It was great initially, but I got sick of it after awhile.

Oh, we saw Shin too!!! Actually, I didn’t even know who he was but everyone was queueing up for his autograph. Brenda pointed out later that he was the guy whose song kept repeating on the hotel’s TV.

Soon enough we’ll see Brenda up there as Singapore’s very first BigaBig B!! You should have seen her with Elissa’s cap while rapping, bagus

Elissa finally discovered that the bag stinked like hell. You should have seen her face then. “If it wasn’t so cheap, I would be damn pissed that the bag stinks so bad!”

Eileen snapped a photo of me the minute I opened the toilet door, so I did it back to her!! Tit for a tat ^^

We took the metro all the way to the other end, and Uncle’s friend treated us to some 10 course seafood dinner. When we came back from the toilet, there was already this lobster and abalone waiting for us. There was also a pot of Budha jump over the wall, freaking good!

Crab glutinous rice. I was too lazy to deshell the crab, but according to Elissa, the meat was sweeeet.

Prawn, crab and I don’t know what wrapped in vegetable and deep fried. Very, very, very delicious.

Some thing like Singapore’s fried mantou, but a lot oilier. It came with condensed milk for dipping, really delicious okay!!

There were other stuff like prawns, beef, black chicken and so on, but I was too busy eating to snap anymore photos. I had 6 prawns in total because they were so fresh!! I dipped them in soy sauce and wasabi, ooooooh so good. Dinner was really good and filling but the long walk and shopping after that made up for it. I think we covered more than 5km on day 2!

We took a long walk to the jetty after that and Brenda revealed her dirty little secret hahaha. I laughed and laughed until my stomach hurt.

The jetty really looked like the one from Ming Zhong Zhu Ding! I found out that Jiang Mu Dao doesn’t exist.

We took a ferry over to some island where I bought my Iron eggs!! Why did I only get one packet

See how huge Starbucks is?! According to Uncle, the Taiwaneses like drinking coffee a lot. The only time where Starbucks didn’t have a long, long queue was at 10am when we went to eat breakfast.

Mister Donut!! I remember eating them in ChiangRai before, just that it was a lot cheaper. Unlike the usual bread-texture donuts in Singapore, these donuts are actually chewy.

Elissa and Brenda bought some milk tea from a bubble tea shop while Eileen and I were trying shoes and the milk tea was really awesome!!! Wasn’t too sweet because you could choose the level of sweetness. Only Koi has such options in Singapore but Koi is a rip off. Nothing beats Taiwan…

We were supposed to go back to Shilin but Uncle’s friend recommended this market where the Taiwanese college students shop. IT WAS HEAVEN. I was thinking about shopping throughout dinner.

Brenda and I shared this and the rice was so good! There’s sauce everywhere so the rice tasted good, unlike Yoshinoya.

Our legs finally gave in on the 3rd day of shopping and we found a store where we had the famous fried chicken culet. That was probably one of the only street food we had there because we were eating proper meals most of the time. Then I saw this man with a huge giant crepe and I just had to take a picture!! Elissa suggested we buy one but finally decided against it because we were all too full.

On the way back, we bought bread, which was supposedly less fresh since they were packed but tasted heavenly, and they came in brown grocery bags. It reminded me of Western movies where the actor comes out of the grocery store with a brown bag in his hand and french loaves sticking out of it!!

We stopped by the convenient store and I just had to buy back some cup noodles. They don’t provide plastic bag so I was walking out of the store with a mountain of cup noodles while Eileen, Brenda and Elissa laughed at me. It’s okay, now I have yummy cup noodles in my kitchen while you all don’t!!

Loot from the evening. The blazer and bracelet are probably one of the most expensive things I bought there, but I like them so much!! I bought new leggings also which were like S$4 since my maid made holes in mine. If we had more time at the market, I would buy a lot, lot, lot more. It’s like our Fareast Plaza but a hell lot cheaper.

There’s no clear distinction between day 3 and 4 because we intended to stay up since we had to wake up at 4 to catch out flight. Brenda, as usual, was the first to fall asleep.

Everyone slept in the end, but I’m a light sleeper so I wake up easily. I hate it when I’m still tired but can’t get to sleep, like in the van or on the plane!!

Saw this at the airport! Brenda and Eileen thought the tomato was a human. Have no idea who the china girl next to the tomato is so I removed her face.

What a way to end my happy post with a picture of yam biscuits from the airport. It has a crust, yam paste and mochi in the centre!! I didn’t get it in the end because both my Mum and Dad are so afraid of putting on weight and I don’t want this to lie in the fridge. Looking back, I should have gotten these divine little pastries.

The plane ride back was a total disaster!!! I wanted to pee while the lavatory was still clean so I went in while everyone was still busy boarding. Unfortunately, the lock was slightly faulty and I got trapped in the bloody toilet!! I tried and tried but the door wouldn’t budge so I had no choice but to press the help button. I think the attendants were busy helping the passengers so no one came to my rescue I was so afraid that the plane would take off I kept fidgeting with the lock until it finally opened. On my 2nd trip to the lavatory, I forgot to lock the door and halfway, someone opened before I could stop her Then there was this man who sat next to me and coughed throughout the entire flight. Sigh. Not to mention that the toilet door at Taiwan’s airport slammed right into my face. What is it with me and toilets?!

After 4 days of Taiwan, I find it so hard to be alone at home, spending my time in front of the TV instead of walking and walking, eating lousy and expensive food and so on. I miss shopping with the girls, getting fashion advice from there, sharing clothes, eating with them, sharing toilets, having changing parades in our hotel room, laughing at stupid things and everything. I’m looking forward to the end of As and then we’ll have a shopping marathon which starts from Taiwan, continues to HongKong, and then a rejuvenating break in Bali and finally a shopping finale in Thailand. Sounds good?! Best of all, I’ll get to see my mates every single day for 2 weeks or so. To round it up, Taiwan was really, really awesome. A big thank you to Elissa’s parents for bringing us around!

Yesterday was awesome! The Jaiho dancers went down to Little India to look for bangles and we had Komala’s, a fast food outlet that serves Indian food, accepts NETS and has 2 different counters for ordering and serving, for lunch. Wait, that makes it more efficient that MacDonald’s?! I had 2 pieces of prata with some god-like curry and spiced fries, sooooo good. Switching from stage band to Jaiho made me look at band differently, a small but right step.

Went to meet Ly, Eileen and Elissa at City Hall after that. Swear I didn’t pose for this photo, I was really shit tired.

We queued for free Starbucks!! I didn’t make a donation because I had 0 cash oops.

经济米粉王 (Economic beehoon king) Eugene, CUTE. He came to join us and saw Brenda along the way, so we called Brenda who joined us too!! Actually, Pandora, who was with Brenda before that, saw Elissa and Eugene also and she told Miaoqian who called Elissa. Then we met Siew Min at the toilet, who was going to meet Pandora they all for a 4J outing. We met the 4J girls on our way home too HAHA Some illegal AHS gathering?! Such a happy day

The good thing about today was meeting up with the girls and Edmund. Ly, Brenda, Eileen, Elissa and I studied at Pasir Ris library, and it felt like the sec4 days again. We used to study together almost everyday at Cafe Galilee after school, having fatty chicken chunks and coffee drinks for lunch. Study session was phail, Brenda and I ended up playing Taptap!

We went over to Tampines where Graci joined us and Brenda left. While heading to Century for dinner, we being girls detoured into almost every other shop while Edmund’s stomach watched in horror. Something happened after that and while it did affect me for a little while, I know that probing doesn’t make one happy. Just so you know, it’s not about him, it’s about you. Anyway, Elissa & I shared a bowl of ban mian for dinner, and I still reckon that Plaza Sing has the best ban mian! Edmund, Eileen and I went over to Simei to wait for Ly to end work after that, and I drank Starbucks again after so long. The actual plan for the day was dinner with Eileen, Ly and Edmund, but no one refuses cutie pie Brenda!

I came home after that and everything went downhill. First, I received a mail from Facebook saying “We have detected suspicious activity on your Facebook account and have temporarily suspended your account as a security precaution.” Then, I lost yet another strip of my Scar treatment gel sheet, so there goes $9. And apart from that all, I’m still thinking about just now.

Whatever it is, I’m done with today. It’s pass 12 now and whatever happens yesterday stays there.

At 6am this morning, my good-for-nothing brother started a huge war that woke me up. He spent the entire night on the laptop so my Dad confiscated it while he went out for breakfast. When I’m talking about my brother’s breakfast, it means 2 main courses with deep-fried sides. The fatso started making a huge din (he yelled fuck you), my Dad retaliating, and my Mum pleading them to stop. I can’t help but think that she has a huge part to play in him being like that. She treats him like a gem because he had leukemia, but I think he’s pure trash. Anyone who survives cancer should know better than to waste life away, no?

2 days ago, the fruitcake was yelling at Mum for not getting him a laptop at Sitex. She apparently promised him one, and I think that’s the probem with her. God knows what kind of mother-son relationship have they fostered. He started a pathetic and corny tirade, the usual “I’m never going to trust you again! If you give me 3k now, I will never take anything from you again.” 3k is a worthy investment if he will really fuck off from this house and family, but he’s a leeching animal so that won’t happen. Mum lovessssx1000 him too much anyway.

At the age of 21, he’s jobless, soon-to-be cashless, morbidly overweight and useless. When in ITE, his teacher called to say that the scum was forcing his mates to complete his homework. In the army, he spent at least 2/5 days a week at home gaming. His usual early morning supper comprises of eating cup noodle from the petrol kiosk while squatting near the huge trash bin. At the rate he’s eating, he’ll do the world a favour by dying at 30. I hope Dad throws him out when he’s 25 and still useless.

Band was alright, since we’re actually starting to play music instead of avant-garde pieces. Xuanhao, Yanhao and I had lunch at MacfreakingDonalds, and their Avatar burger, despite tasting good, was a sinful fatty patty. The best thing about lunch was seeing Brenda there, luvluv I stuffed serviettes into her bag when she was busy eating hehe. We met Thomas the toy train at the bus stop who had 2 hours to burn before Church started. I had to wait for Eileen and Elissa too so we ended up Tampines Mac (again) talking. The toy train was very insightful, and I enjoyed talking to him.

So despite the showdown with Mummy Teh last night, today was awesome. Nothing extraordinary, but nonetheless a happy day. The best things in life aren’t things.

Remember the other time? Who on earth treats a maid like a dog, and who on earth yells at her husband to get things done? Dad got discharged yesterday, and she made a big hoo-haa about him not calling the bank to find out about the fucking credit card that she wants. No wonder he wants to stay in the hospital longer. If you want the card, then call the bloody bank yourself. Then she has to make a huge fuss every single day about my 21 yr old brother being jobless, and she always has to do it when I’m watching TV. You were the one giving in to him all the time, so blame yourself that your son is incapable. There is perpetually no peace in the house whenever she’s in. She’s always yelling about the smallest thing and making everyone upset. I hate it when you’re home.

Just awhile ago, we were watching TV and she had to say “I can’t stand that actress from your AHS! She’s so short, must be less than 1m tall!” Who the fuck makes such nasty comments? Right after that, I asked her for something and she said “In the container in my toilet.” Your toilet has a fucking zillion containers. Then you blame me for raising my voice because I can’t find the container. What’s wrong with raising my voice, isn’t that what you do to everyone when you demand help? And whenever you’re bored at home, you ask me out for lunch/dinner despite knowing that I’m meeting my friends. I’m not going to be your sidekick just because your drama has ended or you’re bored of the sodding computer. It pisses the hell out of me when you behave like a fucking dictator all the time.

You’re so nasty to everyone in this house, you take us all for granted. All you ever know is “I’m your mother, you shut up!” or “Look at your daughter, getting from bad to worse!” I’m not getting from bad to worse, and you know that. You very well know that Dad and I have a very good relationship, which is why you sent him to dissuade me from going to India. You’re the one who’s turning into Hitler’s spawn, not me.

I wish Taiwan was this Saturday so I wouldn’t have to see you. You make me wish it was just Dad and I.

The only camera I had back then was a phone camera (what a l0s3r), so I missed out on capturing the best 4 years of my life. Thank god for friends like Megansimsy, Sheena the camwhore, Yihao the gadget boy, Nonya Wong, Eileen etc and of course Facebook who took down those Kodak moments for me.

We had dinner at SushiDon and almost everyone else ordered Ramen. I swore never to eat Ramen excpet Ajisen’s cause most of them just taste like maggie mee. I had pan-fried udon which… sucked still.

Everyone else had to leave so Megan, Jy and I went to Clarke Quay. Love the scenery!! Will get my future boyfriend to take me there xx

Simsy & I went back to Funan and had Shaker fries (YES IT’S BACK) with Sheena after that. I had a ball of time bitching with them, laughing till I cried and watching Sheena point her middle fingers at Megan like it was a machine gun!!

Dad went for OP today and he’s fine now. His office transferred him to Class A ward and he told the nurses “I’m moving to a Singaporean ward, with Singaporean nurses!” haha! There was even a personal computer/TV in the ward!! He was more interested in the gadgets than what the nurse had to say about his wound. His Safra insurance pays him $50/day when he’s in hospital while his office covers the bill, so he wants to stay for a day more

Anyway, I received an email abt “potential top students” but they highlighted issues like “This ‘top list’ is harder to draw up, all the more because some of you have excellent grades, but ‘average’ (or worse, ’poor’) CCA involvement or civics tutors’ feedback. ” Now, that’s a wake up call

After yesterday’s letdown, I decided to do the idiot-proof Oreo truffles instead.

I don’t have a food processor, so yours truly 1) manually crushed the Oreo biscuits into powder with a rolling-pin 2) combined the Oreos and cream cheese with a wooden spatula until my arms almost broke. Top on my christmas wish list: Food processor! No actually, it’s the Iphone.

I know it looks like shit, but you can’t go wrong with cream cheese and Oreo.

I’ve been seeing (and licking while baking) so much chocolate lately I swear I will throw up soon. Anyway, I’m finally meeting the clique tomorrow for dinner, cannot wait Staying over at Felicia’s after that and then band on Wednesday…. Such a spoiler. But Dad’s having on operation on Wednesday too so I might just skip band. I’ve been acting like a bitch recently because he doesn’t want me to go for the India OCIP I suck. Part of me really, really wants to go, but Dad keeps telling me its unsafe and he’s worried. We haven’t quarrelled since the start of this year and I don’t want to jeopardize that.

Oh yes, I had my first unofficial/impromptu outing with my classmates today I hope I’ll actually open up to them more next year. I’ve wasted the whole of 2009 and I don’t want to leave VJ feeling like I’ve got nothing.

• 1030-12: Eat my cup noodle, read Physics.
• 12-1: Sleep.
• 2-4: Swim. I MUST STOP PROCRASTINATING AND EXERCISE.
• 4.30: Get ready for dinner.

I have 2 new best friends, my mixer and the oven. My parents went out for a $38++ Japanese buffet dinner and left me at home, so I decided to try out this Cheesecake Blondie recipe. Unfortunately, it was a flop It tasted like what a 70 yr old diabetic old lady would call “Just right!”. I always thought it was an unwritten rule to cut down on the sugar, but no!! When it comes to recommended recipes, black and white is always right.

The cheese was still soft, so it ended up jiggling around when I tried to spread the cookie batter on top.

It was supposed to be cookie + cheesecake + cookie, but it ended up tasting like muffin + tasteless cheese + muffin. I hate muffins okay!! Dad will get rid of this mess for me by bringing it to office HAHA. He says that the office ladies love to munch, so they’ll always finish the food. My deflated confidence will stick to cookies and idiot-proof truffles for now.

Anyway, Dad brought me to Swenson’s on Friday cause I was dying to try out their crab set!

The soft shell crab was sooooooo good but the chilli crab soup was too tomato-ish for my liking. Dad had salmon with extra mushroom and onion toppings (toppings were $2 each!!!) and the bill came up to a freaking $38. What a rip off

Now moving on to macarons, Bakerzin is selling them for $1 per piece this November! I got Yanhao the hazelnut one, and he said it tasted weird :O What a waste!! The sesame one I tried was so orgasmic, I came home to look for recipes. Unfortunately, they are one of the hardest things to master and macaron classes cost $120+ Boohoo.

Anyway, Band tune in on Saturday was I was actually looking forward to practice because I knew for sure that the band would sound different with the Sec4s. Sure enough, we sounded big, refreshing and somewhat nostalgic. It brought me back to the days when I was so eager to attend practices. Despite enjoying the session, I ironically found myself constantly looking at the clock a little while later. Band isn’t really my thing anymore, is it?
